Myth says that Vorel, a powerful warrior, fought and lived alongside dragons as if she was of their blood. Some even state that she was of their blood, the mortal offspring of a dragon god and elven maiden.
Legend says she died an honorable death in battle against a league of demons seeking to annihilate the last living dragons and banish their species from the earth forever. A demon cast a bolt of lightning at a newly-born dragon and Vorel intercepted the bolt, ending her mortal life. The dragons fought back fiercely in honor of their fallen friend, and the demons were slain. There were no casualties among the dragons that day, save for Vorel.
Never before was such a mourning known as that of the dragons that day. They placed her lifeless body on a slab of pure silver deep beneath the earth where they lived, and erected a pyre large enough to shame the sun's own light. The light shone through the openings to the cavern, and those above ground watched in awe as a figure emerged from the light - a shining female warrior riding on a dragon of pure white fire. As she rode high into the heavens, the dragons bowed their heads, their grief now joy, and the bed of silver where her mortal remains lie became their shrine to the newly-risen goddess.
The dragons vowed to dedicate themselves to eliminating the forces of darkness from their world, not as vengeance for Vorel's death, but in order to ensure peace for all those pure of heart. It is unknown exactly when Vorel's Order of the White Dragon was founded, but since the death and rebirth of the High Goddess, the silver altar of her passing has served as the focus of her worship, and her Order has flourished and grown around it.
